Carmen YOUNG / Guest Director & Collaborating Artist
We are honored to welcome acclaimed Mexican flamenco dancer Carmen Young as our Guest Director. Throughout the year, Carmen will collaborate with our studio through both in-person residencies and online mentorship, bringing her artistry, experience, and deep connection to the traditions of flamenco to our community.
Paulina Chalita / Owner and Flamenco Director
Paulina founded Semilla Flamenca in 2015, combining decades of dance experience with a passion for building community through culture, language, and movement. Fluent in four languages and shaped by experiences across Europe, Asia, North America, she brings a unique perspective to her teaching. Her classes weave together authentic flamenco training with Spanish language and cultural immersion.
Cecilia Garcia / Director, Mexican Folk Dance Program
With a lifetime of experience and more than 15 years of teaching in the Seattle area, Cecilia brings exceptional knowledge, energy, and dedication to our Folklórico program. For the past 2+ years, she has been a valued and core member of the Semilla team, inspiring students through her passion for Mexican dance and culture.
Cristina Nogueira
For the past four years, Cristina has been an integral part of Semilla Flamenca as both a dance mom and an exceptional teacher for our beginners. Originally from the Canary Islands, Spain, she offers students an authentic introduction to flamenco, delivered with warmth and plenty of fun. Her joyful spirit makes every class a welcoming place to learn and grow. She has also been in charge of the Flamenco program at Puesta del Sol for the last 2 years. Teaching 60+ kids every session!
Luz Franco / Flamenco Instructor
Luz has been part of the Semilla Flamenca family for more than a decade—as a dance mom, student, and substitute teacher. Her deep understanding of the studio make her a natural addition to the team. We are excited to officially welcome Luz as an instructor and look forward to the passion, dedication, and positive energy she will bring as we continue to grow together.
Kristin Roy / Children’s Flamenco Instructor
An experienced flamenco dancer, devoted mother, and exceptional educator, Kristin brings over 30 years of teaching experience in the Renton School District to Semilla Flamenca. Her warmth and passion for working with children make her the perfect guide for our youngest dancers, inspiring a love of flamenco through joy, creativity, and care.
Lily Aleksieva / Assistant Teacher
Passionate about dance and working with children, Lily brings dedication, discipline, and patience to every class. Entering her second year as a teacher apprentice with Semilla Flamenca, she has already devoted more than 14 hours a week to supporting our students and teachers. Lily leads by example, encouraging young dancers to stay committed and always strive to do their best.
Caro Jaimes Pozos / Children’s Mexican Folk Dance Instructor
Caro is a passionate Mexican folk dancer and a beloved member of the Semilla Folklorica family. As both a student and performer at the studio, she shares the joy of dance with her own mother here at the studio. celebrating the beauty of Mexican traditions across generations. We are excited to welcome her as the teacher of our Little Ones class
Sonia Melendez / Zumba!
Sonia joins Semilla with a passion for movement, fitness, and creating a welcoming environment. Her energetic and engaging classes blend fun, music, Español and exercise, helping participants build confidence while improving strength, coordination, and overall well-being.
